Ryan Gone Crazy…..

Ryan Friel is known for his famous parm cheese packet and ketchup sandwich, action belt, giant Orvis flask and The Friel Factor but this takes the cake! Here is Ryan running around in Alaska, 20 miles from Russia, in his boxers just because he can. It looks warm and sunny but it was -47 out. Cant wait to hear stories when you get back!

Guides On The Loose……

News Flash….. Just in…. Guides on the loose…. Again…. Spotted Bear boys cant stand skiing one more day and need to get some fish! Cory and Morgan just spent a few days on the Missouri looking for some Cutthroat and all they found were nice rainbows, with all their fins. Weird?

Fly Fisherman Says…….

Just spent 4 hours of the morning looking for something to give you this morning and here it is……… We all love questions and just like Mr. Davis, my 3rd grade teacher, said. “No question is a dumb question” So I figured I was in the clear with my question. While he was giving a lecture about George Washington or something…… I raised my hand and proceded to tell him about all the fish I caught over the weekend. He asked me what my question was….. Do you think they will be there when I get home from school? Mr. Davis looked very confused?

You Hooked Me!!! Again!!!

Movie Night…..

Another nice day in the Flathead Valley! Sunny, Warm and not windy? Why are you reading this and not fishing? Today should be a great day on the river! Here is a great video to get you pumped up to get outside and go fishing!

Guide Lunch

Great Guide Lunch today. Ham, avacado, sprouts, mayo and 4 grain bread. Chase that thing down with 6 PBR’s and you have a guide lunch made for kings. What did master sandwich maker Krista have to say about her sando? ” I don’t know? It’s just a sandwich.” Quote of the day.

Guide Lunch….

Guide Lunch? This is when we would usually tell you some crazy concoction that Ryan Friel had for lunch. Remember the stale flour tortillas, Beaver mustard and the who knows how old Parmesan Cheese packet sandwich? How about the smell after he threw it in the microwave for a few seconds? This time I am going to throw you something that you can use. Maybe?

Meet Texas Pete! He rocks. I found him in the Utah Airport. I started the morning super hung over and pretty tired. Went through 3 different airports and had no food. I found this great little Chinese food joint, yes I would call it a joint, that had huge portions and was pretty cheep. 3 choices of chinese food sickness on a bed of fried rice for $7.99. Really? Can I have two of those plates? How about a Mt. Dew? Just when life could not get any better I found these sick little packets of hot sauce. I filled my pockets, loaded my tray with the packets of a potentially good hot sauce and ran to the far corner of the seating area. I was surprised to find an electrical jack in the wall at my table. Sweet! Time to recharge that iphone, listen to some tunes, eat till I make myself sick and people watch. Who dosent like to people watch and eat food while in an airport?

So how is the hot sauce you ask? Great! It has a great flavor, not to vinegary and goes great on anything. Do you like Frank’s? Pete’s is close to Franks but not as vinegary. I give this hot sauce two thumbs up! So next time you are sitting in my boat and want a little kick in your peanut butter and pickle sandwich… Ask for some Texas Pete’s!

Whatcha Doin?

Winter has been pretty calm this year but the old man is still here to stay. What is a fly fisherman to do? I saw down with the old man! It’s time to fish…. This is a great time of year to be on the water. Not very many people on the water and the fish are eating. Besides… Your friends will think your a stud if your out braving freezing temps just to catch a few fish. NOAA is your friend in the winter time.

http://www.weather.gov/ will get you any weather report in the country. It’s usually pretty accurate. I do like to cross reference NOAA with another site. Check out http://www.wunderground.com/. This site is also pretty accurate. Between the two services you can get a pretty good guess as to what is going to happen. With that said… Dont get caught up in looking for the perfect day. I have had plenty of perfect days when it was forecasted to be crappy out.
