Well it is finally officially fall in our neck of the woods and we couldn’t be happier about that. With day-time temps in the 50’s & 60’s and nighttime temps in the 30’s & 40’s there has been plenty of bigger fish moving around in the Flathead River System. The key to fishing our home waters this time of the year is to sleep in. Our fish like to sleep in so you should too. One day can be very different from the next but there has been frequent reports coming back of great days with lots of big fish eating. Little tiny mayflies, October Caddis, Hecubas, and some larger black foam patterns have been doing the trick for most of our guides this week.

Also, if you are wanting to do some travelling this time of year the Clark Fork is a great option. With these cool cloudy days that we have been having I wouldn’t hesitate to head that direction either. With the rush of summer tapering out we have plenty of great guides available to take you fishing on the Flathead, Clark Fork, & Missouri.

Give us a call and we’ll set you up for the day. We have some good sales going on for some of our summer apparel including 40% off select Simms sandals. We also have two more Winston Nexus rods in stock at 20% off! This is a great deal and shouldn’t be passed up if you are in the market for a new rod. We are all pretty sad here in the shop to see this rod go. It is the perfect time of the year to come stop by the shop and see what’s going on.

  1. Heading back from Bozeman/West Yellowstone thinking about next years trip already. Hear great stuff about Whitefish. Love to talk ideal time to come and fish and enjoy the town. A few of our crew also into mountain biking and hiking.

  2. Top photo is my husband’s fish! He was so excited for days afterwards. That’s the biggest fish he ever caught on a fly rod. Thank you Adam for a wonderful day on the water in the most beautiful state in the country! (In our opinion!)
