Montana Fly Fishing Report, 6-7-12

Flathead is running at42,300 cfs, can you say big? The river started to drop last night and leveled off. Still a few away from a solid drop in the flows. Few more weeks? With lots more rain on the way we could see the main river over 50,000. Lets give it some more time, tie up your favorite flies and get ready for Dry or Die!

Sam With A Double!

Rogers lake fished great today. Just got off the water and it’s still fishing good right now. When the wind died down fish were up eating dries, little wind and the dry fly action slowed. PA’s all day for dries. Nymphs 3 feet under an indicator was very effective. It seems that the grayling and cutthroat are not super deep yet. Water temps were 58… So fish are cruising looking for a meal. What kind of meal does a Hula Girl look like? Don’t know but the fish love it!

Flows on the Missouri are still on the rise. Most recent flows are 9160. Getting bigger and water temps holding strong.

Weather guessers calling for lots of rain over the next few days. This could put the Flathead over 50,000 cfs. What to do? Be patient, tie a bunch of flies and get ready for Dry or Die!
