It feels like August just started to get going and we are already looking towards its end. As the month of August approaches its end we hope the smoke finds its way out as well. As I sit here writing I can see rain drops hitting the parking lot. This is great news as we have been without rain for well over a month! Despite the smoke and lack of rain, the guides here at Lakestream have been finding plenty of fish out on the Flathead and Clarkfork.

We are lucky to have some of the coldest and cleanest water in the state which really helps us out during the month of August. Terrestrials are still very much a major player out on the river. Hoppers and ants are still getting plenty of chugs, smaller mayflies are still catching fish, and a good wasp pattern could certainly do you well if they seem to be swarming around. Don’t let that smoke scare you away from getting out and fishing! The fish are still eating and summer is certainly not over! Come in and chat with any of us here at the shop for up to the minute reports on what is happening on our local river systems. We have had a great summer here at Lakestream and hope to finish out the busy part of the year strong.

As always, thanks for supporting your local fly shop.
