So the title could be a half handed rip off of a beloved country song but.... that's what I've got for ya. Whew....... for all those out there braving the crowds, the heat, and shall we say the uh people of the eccentric varietal ............ I am pleased to announce. FALL HAS ARRIVED ! It officially arrived in our busy little town on the 22nd and has already gotten to crisping up the a1ir and changing the leaves to the bright reds and yellows we know and love. For me its a total sea change in the mind. Thoughts of cold mornings walking through the woods in search of that trophy . And quiet afternoons on a river whose water reflects all the splendor of the changing trees. Yep I love fall............hands down love it. The scenery is beautiful, the weathers on point. And the fishing..... is really a "best of all worlds" scenario. Great dry fly opportunities, streamer eats and toothy critters are all in the crosshairs. The weather and the water is cooling down in a big way and getting our fishy friends thinking about calories, calories, calories, before the big freeze. So what does this mean for us fishing people ? well.........only good things. Its time to start thinking about dry flies on cool clear days, the first appearance of our Hecuba mayfly (last of the big mayflies for the year ) and big black junk in the middle of the river. Its time to start thinking about that dumbbell eyed creature you tied months ago and all but forgot about. Fall will always be streamer season first and foremost. And although most of the time it can be a tough game to play, when it comes together it comes together in volumes. Truth be told one of my favorite bugs on the sub surface game (If we're talking about our Flathead river system) is the good old polar leech. No, not what I would define as a streamer. but ......damn ...... give it a try. Ohh yes and last but not least. It sure as heck is time to start thinkin about gear! We have a great selection of mens and womens fall duds to keep you warm and comfy out on those chilly days. "Rods" you ask , we are stacked, And one of our favorite manufacturers, Scott, has discontinued what has to be one of the greatest "cult follwing " rods ever made, the "Radian" we currently have a 9ft 5wt,4wt and 6wt in stock. THESE WILL NOT LAST. so if your in the market for a surgically accurate dry fly stick or a streamer cannon that cannot be outdone get in here ! Happy Happy fall to everyone we hope to see ya out on the water or in the shop really soon.
