Fall HAs arrivied!

Hello friends and foes! Autumn is abound through out Montana and the fishing has been heating up as we creep towards winter.

On the Flathead river we are finally starting to see bigger fish coming up from the lake. The past couple weeks have provided good opportunities to catch clean fish that we haven’t seen all summer. Terrestrials are still working great and are producing quality fish. Recommended dries at the moment are hoppers (10-12), ants (18-22), beetles (12-14), copper haze (12-16), purple haze (12-16), mahogany mayfly emerges & duns (16-18), October caddis (10-12), and black crickets (6-10). We’ve also seen the sparkle minnow catching some nice fish. If you are going to fish the dropper perdigons (14-18), hares ear (16-18), or pheasant tail (16-18). Fishing lakes in the area a similar selection should produce fish, maybe consider adding a balanced leech to the program if the top water isn’t working.

It is a great time of year to get on the water! Some of the best fish of the season are caught on the Flathead in October! To get a trip on the books give us a call at the shop. Our hours in October are Tue- Sat 9-5. Mid October our hours will be affected by the construction on Spokane (HWY 93), check our facebook for up to date hours of operation.
